Chapter 11: Troubleshooting the Emulator
Problems with the Emulation Probe
To run the emulation probe performance
verification tests
In addition to the powerup tests, there are several additional
performance verification (PV) tests available.
Some of these tests can be performed through the HP 16700A/16700A-
series logic analysis system. The LAN tests for an emulation probe can
only be executed through the RS-232 port.
To fully test the emulation probe, you will need to run the PV test with
several hardware configurations:
For the BREAK IN, TRIGGER OUT BNC FEEDBACK TEST, connect a
coaxial cable between BREAK IN and TRIGGER OUT.
To run the performance verification tests using
the logic analysis system
1
End any Emulation Control Interface or debugger sessions.
2
Disconnect the 50-pin cable from the emulation probe, and plug
the loopback test board (HP part number E3496-66502) into the
emulation probe.
3
In the system window, click the emulation probe and select
Performance Verification
.
4
Click
Start PV
.
The results will appear on screen.
