Troubleshooting Tips
Problem Cause Solution
MC1000 does not turn
on.
Main battery is not charged.
Insert the MC1000 into the cradle and begin charging.
The main battery requires up to four hours to fully
recharge.
Main battery is not installed
correctly.
Remove and replace the battery. The battery cover must
be closed completely for the MC1000 to power on.
System Crash
Perform a Warm Boot, see Reset the MC1000. (see
page 7)
Rechargeable Li-ion
battery did not charge.
Li-ion battery failed.
Replace the battery. If this does not work, perform a
Warm Boot; see Reset the MC1000. (see page 7)
MC1000 removed from
cradle while battery was
charging.
Insert the MC1000 into the cradle and begin charging.
The main battery requires up to four hours to fully
recharge.
Data transfers to/from
MC1000 incomplete or
did not finish.
MC1000 was removed from
the cradle before the transfer
finished.
Place the device in the cradle and transfer the files again.
Cables are configured
incorrectly.
Check the cable configuration.
Software was incorrectly
installed or configured.
Reinstall AscendScan.
MC1000 does not emit
sound.
Volume setting is low or
turned off .
Press [F]+[DEL] to access the volume control . Use the
arrow keys to adjust the volume.
MC1000 turns itself off.
MC1000 is inactive. The MC1000 will turn itself off after a period of inactivity.
This period can be set from one to five minutes in the
control panel of Remote Control .
Battery is depleted. Replace the battery.
Battery is not inserted
properly.
Remove and replace the battery.
MC1000 displays a
message that the
memory is full, program
memory is low, or
“SCAN_ENABLE_
FAILED.”
Too many files are stored on
the MC1000.
Delete any unneeded documents.
Program memory needs to
be increased.
Increase the program memory in the control panel of
Remote Control, see Adjust the program memory. (see
page 6)
