Problem Cause Solution
MC1000 does not
accept scan input.
Scanning application not
loaded.
Reinstall AscendScan.
Unreadable barcode. Ensure the symbol is not smeared.
Distance between MC1000
and barcode is too far.
Ensure the MC1000 is the proper distance away from the
barcode.
Battery is too low. If the battery level gets too low, the MC1000
automatically goes into suspend mode. Replace the
battery.
MC1000 is not programmed
to generate a beep.
Press [F]+[DEL] to access the volume control . Use the
arrows to adjust the volume.
Laser stopped working. From the Scan screen, press [F]+[1].
Storage Card not listed
in Windows Explorer .
Perform aWarm Boot.
For details, see Reset the MC1000. (see page 7)
MC1000 is not placed in the
cradle properly,
Lift the MC1000 off of the cradle and firmly reseat it.
An error is displayed on the
MC1000.
Press [ENT] to close the error message. Remove and re-
insert the MC1000 into the dock.
SDcard is wrong size. Verify the installed SD card is not larger than 2 GB.
SDcard is not recognized. Remove and re-insert the SD card. Verify the SDcard is
not locked and is inserted completely.
MC1000 screen too is
too light/too dark.
The contrast must be
changed.
Press [F]+[SHIFT] to access the contrast control . Use
the arrow keys to adjust the contrast.
Charge LEDs do not
light when MC1000 or
spare battery is
inserted.
Cradle is not receiving power
.
Ensure that the power cable is securely connected to the
AC power .
MC1000 is not seated
correctly on the dock.
Remove and re-insert the MC1000 into the dock.
Spare battery is not seated
correctly in the cradle.
Remove and re-insert the battery. Note the polarity icon
on the battery.
MC1000 battery is not
charging.
MC1000 was removed from
the dock too soon.
Insert the MC1000 into the cradle and begin charging.
The main battery requires up to four hours to fully
recharge.
Battery was inserted
incorrectly.
Remove and replace the battery.
Battery is faulty. Verify that another battery charges correctly. If it does,
replace the faulty battery. If it does not , replace the
dock.
