channels in the radio. If you leave this option unchecked then ScanControl will only
import as many channels as are available in the chosen destination bank.
o Def Tag (Channels) – If no Frequency Tag column is identified for importation this field
allows the user to set a default alphanumeric tag for all the imported frequencies.
o Starting SLoc – Select the starting ScanList location in the destination bank for the
import. This list box is automatically filled with the available scanlist locations based on
the bank selected.
o SLoc Spillover - Check this box if you want to allow the talkgroup data being imported
to “spillover” into subsequent ScanLists. Let’s say you want to import 50 talkgroup IDs.
Uniden radios hold 10 talkgroup IDs per ScanList. By checking this option you are
telling ScanControl to allow all the data to be imported. All 50 talkgroup IDs will go into
several ScanLists starting at the designated Starting SLoc (ScanList location) and
continuing into the next ScanList or ScanLists. The only limit will be the maximum
number of ScanList locations per bank (100 in this case). If you leave this option
unchecked then ScanControl will only import as many talkgroup IDs as there are
locations available in the chosen ScanList.
o Def Tag (Talkgroups) – If no Talkgroup Tag column is identified for importation this
field allows the user to set a default alphanumeric tag for all the imported Talkgroup IDs.
• Operation Controls:

o Reset Button – Click to reset all settings on the screen back to their defaults.
o Cancel Button – Click to cancel the CSV Import and return to the Import Data Screen.
o Import Button – Click to perform the data import. ScanControl will alert the user that
data may be overwritten by performing the import and also if any limits (channel or
scanlist locations) have been exceeded by the configured data mapping.
As an example the Step by Step instructions below illustrate how to use the Import CSV File Data

1. Press 'Import Data Files' on the Main ScanControl screen.
2. On the 'Import Data Files' screen make sure ‘CSV File (Excel & Others)’ is selected.
3. Choose the desired CSV file. If you don't see the file, make sure that the correct device and
directory are chosen in the main window. The CSV Import mode looks for files with the .CSV
and .TXT extensions. If your file has some other extension then check the 'Disp(lay) all file
types' checkbox to see all files.
4. Double click on the filename you want to import so the name appears in the ‘Filename’ selection
box.
5. Press the 'Map CSV' button to open the Import CSV File Data screen. (See above)
6. The '1. File Contents' window tells ScanControl what kind of data to expect. If you're importing
data for a conventional system, check the 'Frequencies' button. If you're importing data just to
