Inferring an IP Address
Using the example above, 192.168.10.10 is the IP address assigned to your Ethernet
adapter. This tells you that you should assign an IP address beginning with 192.168.10.x.
The last number, possibly 11 in this case, could be free.
1 Use the ping command (just like using ipconfig – see above) to verify if the address is
free, type ping 192.168.10.11.
2 If you do not see the word “reply,” then most likely the IP address is free.
For the following reasons, the above instruction might not work:
• You may have two network adapters installed in the computer, so you need to know which one is being
used for the wireless network.
• You statically assigned your Ethernet adapter’s IP address and it is not the same as the router’s network. In
this case, access your router to discover the information. Refer to your router’s documentation for further
details.
Hardware Setup
If you chose to dynamically assign an IP address to your WPS870G, follow the Wireless
Router connection procedure. If you chose static IP assignment, either hardware
connection procedure can work.
