Receiving a Text Message
A
You must set up the text message inbox before you can receive text
messages. See “Setting Up the Text Message Inbox”.
When you receive a new message, your phone displays
New Message
and
gives an alert. If reminders are turned on, your phone sends a reminder every five
minutes until you close the new message notification, read the message, or turn
off your phone. (See “Reminders”.)
When your inbox is full, any new message replaces the oldest unlocked message.
From the new message notification:
Press
READ
( ) to open the message (or your text message inbox if there are
multiple messages).
As memory space for storing messages gets close to full, the
(message
waiting) indicator ashes and your phone displays
Memory is Low!
when you
receive a new message. When no more messages can be stored, your phone
displays
Memory is Full!
and the network temporarily holds your new messages.
To receive these new messages, you must delete some existing messages from
your inbox, outbox, or drafts folder.
Reading, Locking, or Deleting a Text
Message
You can open your text message inbox to read, lock, or delete messages at any
time.
Messages in the text message inbox are sorted from newest to oldest. The oldest
messages are deleted as new ones are added. If you want to save a message, you
should lock it to prevent it from being overwritten as new messages are received.
