SMS Messages
Short Message Service (SMS) messages are short
text messages, also called text and numeric
messages. You can send SMS messages through
any email account or on nextel.com.
Your phone receives SMS messages sent to its
SMS address, but does not send SMS messages.
Your phone's SMS address is your
PTN@page.nextel.com. Your PTN is your 10-digit
Personal Telephone Number.
If your phone is powered off when you receive a
message, your phone notifies you the next time
you power it on. If you are out of your coverage
area, your phone alerts you when you return to
your coverage area.
Your phone attempts to deliver these messages for
up to 7 days.
Receiving a Message
When you receive a text and numeric message,
New Text Message appears on the display.
To view the message:
1 Press A under Read.
2 If the message fills more than one screen, scroll
to read it.
3 To keep the message, press O. -or-
To delete the message, scroll to the end of the
message, then press A under Delete.
To dismiss the message notification:
If the flip is closed, press .. -or-
If the flip is open, press A under Back or close
the flip.
This icon
w appears on the display, reminding
you that you have a new message.
Reading From the Message
Center
1 From the main menu, select Messages > SMS.
2 Select the message you want to read.
3 If the message fills more than one screen, scroll
to read it.
4 To keep the message, press O. -or-
To delete the message, scroll to the end of the
message, then press A under Delete.
Calling and Storing Numbers
If an SMS message you receive contains a phone
number, you can call that number by pressing s
while viewing the message.
